People say I look happy.
Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be. Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. It is always better to have no ideas than false ones; to believe nothing than to believe what is wrong. Despite everything I believe people are good at heart. Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eyes. I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me. Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves. Not all who wander are lost. Men are sexual exiles. They wander the earth seeking satisfaction, craving and despising, never content. There is nothing in that anguished motion for women to envy. Never underestimate the power of jealousy and the power of envy to destroy. He that is jealous is not in love. Being loved deeply by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. One man with courage is a majority. Whenever you find yourself on the side of majority, it is time to pause and reflect. It's not so much knowing when to speak, when to pause. Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing what to do is the worse kind of suffering. Take without forgetting, give without remembering. If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you. Dogs never bite me, just humans. Just walk beside me and be my friend. The soul that sees beauty must sometimes walk alone. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul. Papa, potatoes, poultry, prunes and prism are all very good words for the lips. I shall refract myself, yes, I shall no longer be known as the prism. All I want is to be loved for myself. There are always flowers for those that want to see them. Flowers grow out of dark moments. Weather forecast for tonight: dark. You don't want to influence the same system you are trying to forecast. Blessed is the influence of one true loving soul on another. Blessed are the hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken. It is easier to build strong children than repair broken men. If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do matters much. It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. You cannot believe in God until you believe in yourself. A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself. Freedom is not worth having if it does not connote freedom to err. To err is human; to forgive, divine. To err is human, but it feels divine. No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible. Even the largest avalanche is triggered by small things. A very small degree of hope is sufficient to cause the birth of love. Birth and death; we all move between these two unknowns. I think every year brings unknowns that you have to deal with, confront and embrace. I embrace the imperfections and celebrate them. Share our similarities, celebrate our differences. If you are really thankful what do you do? You share. I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose. I don't believe you have to be a cow to know what milk is. Don't have a cow, man. Obstacles don't have to stop you. Stop in the name of love. Where there is love there is life. Do what you can with what you have where you are. Do what you feel in your heart to be right for you will be criticized anyway. All right everyone, line up alphabetically according to height. Measure your mind's height by the shade it casts. Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree long ago. God is an unutterable sigh planted in the depths of the soul. To sigh, yet not recede; to grieve, yet not repent. Don't grieve. Anything you lose comes around in another form. Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time. Every artist was first an amateur. The world owes you nothing; it was here first. A single rose can be my garden; a single friend, my world. If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need. Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
