The poetry I write, you say, "is flawless.
"It has the cynicism of David F. Wallace."
While I am excited (I think it's great!),
He hung himself back in 2008.
I've been compared to Sylvia Plath,
I should "follow her chosen career path"
Her work has esprit, I have to agree,
but she stuck her head in an oven in sixty-three.
Writers do seem to kill themselves often -
There's Woolf, Hemingway, and Hunter S. Thompson.
But I am not like that - and here's my precis:
I haven't yet read Cesare Pavese!
I do not plan to go that way
even if my writing does portray
an undo interest in propane,
I will not shoot myself like Kurt Cobain.
