Surprise, big surprise
Marred, and with different sights,
Disappointment, tears,
You shake our beliefs
More precious
Than pomegranates, than henna with nard,
Daughter in our care –
We are hooked in this puzzlement.
Love, without conditions,
You seek to be accepted.
You are thorny
In your inked skin
That simmers under our touch.
Can this borrowed daughter
Needled by disappointment
Soften under our love?
Interesting... still trying to equate henna and lard.... but interesting. Keep on keepin' on.
ReplyDeleteOMG! It's supposed to say nard. LMAO! I think I'll keep it, though ... henna with lard. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's from a chapter in Song of Solomon describing a beautiful woman who is sweeter than pomegranates, the choicest of fruits, and worth more than henna with nard (or spikenard), the most expensive spice.
I guess butter-flavored Crisco is what I ended up saying. She's worth about six bucks to me.
