We do it every day.
We are nose to nose,
Then back to back.
One hand reaches up - first his, then mine.
We stretch our bodies,
and we mark each other on the wall.
“I’m still taller,” I say, relieved.
But I know tomorrow we’ll do it again,
and soon I will become the shortest one in the family.
